Bar comes in several alloys, 2011 is considered a free machining alloy
and is the choice of most high production parts due to it's free cutting
characteristics and excellent finishing qualities. 2024 alloy is commonly used
for parts that require a higher strength than 2011. 6061 is a general purpose
alloy with good strength, machining, welding and forming, plus good corrosion
resistance.
